Green River District Health
Mission Statement. "To promote, protect and enhance the health and well-being of the public." Our focus is, therefore, to develop and maintain healthy habits and lifestyles within all of our communities and to ensure that our citizenry is protected through environmentally safe surroundings. The Board of Health for the Green River District Health Department has the ten (10) essential public health services as developed by James A. Harrell, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Washington D.C.; Edward Baker, MD, MPH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Georgia; and the Essential Services Work Group: - Monitor Health status - Inform and empower people - Develop policies and plans - Link people to health services - Evaluate quality - Diagnose health problems (in the context of community health) - Mobilize community partnerships - Enforce laws and regulations - Assure a competent workforce - Research for new insights. With these goals in mind, the Department must be vigilant in its efforts to identify all the elements within our communities which may threaten the health of its populace. It must rank these threats, establish a system of changing priorities, and engage Departmental and community resources to reduce health concerns which have workable solutions. With equal fervor, the Department must work to identify and define the positive life influences which exist within our communities. It must educate the populace to an awareness of these influences and be a leader in motivating others to desire the positive effects which these influences can have on their lives.
